Allen Vincatassin was born at Diego Garcia in the British Indian Ocean Territory(Formerly Chagos Archipelago), and was evicted in 1971 with his family, to live in exile in the island of Mauritius.

The island of Diego Garcia was found to be an ideal and most strategic place for a defense military base for the US. The British Government made this island available to the US for a period of fifty years, while its people(about 1500 people) were evicted and sent to live in acute poverty in Mauritius, while others were sent to the Seychelles. All the islanders were banished from their homeland.

On the 16th of September 2002, Allen Vincatassin pioneered the first group of Diego Garcians to settle in the United Kingdom, and since then he has started a campaign for his community to be able to settle well in the UK.

In November 2008 Allen managed to get some of his fellow countrymen to visit their homeland from the UK, after 40 years of exile.

In January 2010, Allen will take another group of Six people to visit their homeland in Diego Garcia in the British Indian Ocean Territory.
